To join Ashbourne Sub Aqua Club you will first need to complete a sports diver medical self-certification. After that you’ll need to pay the annual membership subscription which covers things like insurance, a monthly magazine, pool sessions and use of the club facilities.
New Divers
To begin training you need to be at least 12 years old (under 18s need written consent from their parents/guardian) and able to swim. There’s no upper age limit – the most senior starter we’ve had was 69 at the time!
The Club provides all the equipment you will need for your initial training with our own BSAC qualified instructors, but you will need to purchase a student training pack (diving manual, student workbook and qualification records) before you can start the course.
Certified Divers
Divers who are already qualified are most welcome to join the club. For those wishing to further their training, BSAC recognises qualifications from most other training agencies and operates a cross-over scheme that recognises your existing training level and lets you progress from there under the BSAC diver training scheme.
